Staff Attorney

Sarah Shor, Esq., MSW

Sarah is a Staff Attorney at Open City Advocates who is passionate about providing client-centered, strengths-based advocacy to young people who are involved in the juvenile legal system. Sarah comes to Open City Advocates from the Special Litigation Division (SLD) at the Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia (PDS). While at PDS, Sarah represented individuals who were serving lengthy sentences for offenses they were convicted of before turning 25, under the Incarceration Reduction Amendment Act. Prior to joining PDS, Sarah clerked for the Honorable J. Michael Ryan on D.C. Superior Court.

Sarah received her BSW and BA in Criminal Justice from the University of Georgia, her MSW and MS in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania, and her JD from American University Washington College of Law. Sarah seeks to utilize her MSW and JD to ensure youth voices are heard inside and outside of the courtroom and that young people are given the tools to thrive in their communities.
